Hello everyone!
I'm finally getting around to tackling the jungle at my front door that is supposed to become a bonsai show area...I bought the Japanese boxwood to fill in the gap, and was going to really start "digging in" (pun definitely intended ), but when I started poking around I unearthed some questions.
As the different layers of leaves parted, I found 2 different plants that I need help identifying.
The 1st was hiding in the ferns. My mother-in-law thinks she "stuck a scheffelera out there years ago", but thinks she stuck it at the other end of the hedges, not by the door. (See pic #1)
The second one is either a tree of some sort, or the world's largest weed...the leaves are about 4 in. x 2.5 in., saw-toothed, lg. veined, and have a fuzzy texture (see pic #2). The plant itself is currently 8'-12' tall and approximately 1.5" in diameter at the base.
(It's the tall thing to the left in pic. #3)
I'm very tempted to try to bonsai them...I just want to make sure I'm not cultivating the world's biggest ragweed first.
Thanks, and have fun with this new puzzle! |

Can't see any pictures, Michelle, probably because you can't post attachments in this part of the Forum.
Maybe Don or Dick could move it into another part, or you could provide links to off-site pictures. |
