I like Don's suggestion. It gives it the look of weathering harsh conditions and age. Definitely a late winter project.

well guys, being unable to resist the temptation to refine the tree further, yesterday i went ahead and did some more work on the tree.
Many thanks to Simon and Don for their impressions of how the tree should look, i just hope it survives.

Wow! It's almost exactly like my vert. Make sure that the wound is sealed, sit back and style the new tree next season.

Don, its an exact copy of your style and i cant thank you enough for the guidance. yes the wound is sealed and i will leave it now till next spring, if i can??
