I have to say that bonsai workshop is the flat out best step by step book for beginners I've ever laid eyes on. It has the complete process for doing certain things instead of just an overview. His bigger lessons come with multitudes of pictures to help you understand. I usually loan this book to people who approach me wanting to learn about bonsai to see if they are interested.

If you take out full membership, you will have access to all the other forums on this site, where direct posting of photographs is possible. Keep talking to us anyway.

so i can't post pictures...?

thats rubbish.

i dont really want to pay to come on a forum. I've never been too keen on it, but there didnt seem to be many bonsai forums about.
I've joined another bonsai forum, one that i do not have to pay to access all boards.

£20 for a forum membershipThe first time I have ever even considered paying for a forum and I have been on so many forums for all different things I hadn'tt even seen one that charges before here. Though in a hobby I have been told many times you cant do on the cheap £20 for a year isn'tt too bad...

Costs have to be met mind you for hosting etc. Though i am sure the costs are fully covered here and helping to maintain someones bonsai habit Smile
BTW who runs the forum and do they contribute on a regular basis?
As for expert advice, well I remember a renowned expert in his field of dwarf cichlids advising me that he was no expert just someone with an interest who would never hope think he was ever that good.
I have received good advice on here from people who have an active interest in the hobby. Likewise we all contribute in our own way.

Most importantly though, don't forget you do not have to part with any money to participate on this forum. Photos can be uploaded to a free photo hosting site such as photobucket and the link posted here if you need advice on a particular tree.

I stayed as a free member for a few months before I decided to part with my money. I have already had valuable help and advice that would have cost me more if I had paid for a lesson or bought a couple of books.

The choice is always yours to do whatever you decide. Nobody is twisting your arm.

I have been involved with the running of and moderation of 2 very active forums for the last few years. Both are funded from limited donations for the upkeep, and what little advertising revenue there is, but mainly from the owners pocket
On the forums that I help run I would very much like to see the system used here being used there, that way we could keep up with the latest software version
