scissors or pinching?

OK i read that if you use scissors for pruning there will be brown marks. why is that?
well i tried using the pinching method, and doesn't work for me, any tips or how to do it?

OK, i have a juniper procumbus 'Nana'. i am trying to pinch prune, but need some tips. and why is it that scissors make brown spots?

Scissors cut across the needles and as the needles heal the cut, they brown.

To get to your repeated question Peanuts, try pulling the part which you wish to remove with a twist at the same time. It will sever at a natural place without leaving any partial needles behind to go brown. I hope that this helps.
