| My bonsai has recently (about 2/3 days ago) started developing brown patches on some leaves, and when touched they fall straight off. Unfortunately I only have one window and the person who lives below me has just started smoking copious amounts of cannabis (I live in University Halls of Residence!). It is enough to make my room smell awful, so could it be affecting my tree? I have pictures of the leaves, and also the tree as a whole so that it is clear how many leaves it has lost overall - I would say about 1/6th of the leaves have fallen off in the past few days. I water it usually every third day, depending on how dry it is. Here is the link to the pics: http://www.geocities.com/adamsbird/chappy.html Sorry if there is some way to put pictures on here, I couldn't work it out! Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I am really worried about it. Thanks! |

Fully registered members can post photos. easily throughout the site. I heartily recommend that you become one of these/us as much more is available to us.
I suspect that your tree is short of moisture marajade. My fig is being watered every day now in the awakened season. It lives in an East facing window. Which way does your's face? Due South would warrant some light shade in the midday area. I don't think that its the 'pot' but that is sufficient reason to ask for another room I think that the compost looks dodgy and we could discuss the way forward with that.
I live in view of the 'Arts Tower' so if you want to have a face to face its easy. Just PM me. |

| Brilliant, thank you very much! What do you think I need to do with the compost? I've been a bit nervous to mess with the potting of my tree, as I don't want to do it wrong! Any advice at all would be lovely! |

| I agree with Stymie as usual. The soil looks more like common dirt than a compost mix. Being underwatered would make this nearly concrete. |
