Omakase is a Japanese phrase meaning “it’s up to you,
” This feed is named Omakase as you can control how much feed you give and for how long (by adding and removing pellets) Being odourless, Omakase will attract less interest from insects and other animals then some other solid bonsai feeds, but it can still help to use fertiliser baskets if you use the feed on the surface,
Alternatively, you can push the pellets into the bonsai soil where possible,
Use around 10 pellets for an average bonsai pot (20cm) and replace monthly By using the pellets on the surface you can watch them degrade and replace where necessary,
If you push them into the soil you have to guess when to replace them (1 month during summer),
Whilst this isn’t a major problem, for complete control you should leave the pellets on the surface,
