Welcome and congrats on your partnership.
Meanwhile, could you tell us the species/variety of tree that you have, in case there's something particular that it needs? |

| I'm not sure about 'Japanese' Cedar. I know about Atlas cedar, Indian cedar, Lebanon and Cyprus cedars and assume that they all have similar needs. Plenty of sun, outside of course, moist, not wet soil which should be free-draining. Do not cut new shoots and needles or they'll go brown at the tips. The way is to pinch out new growth with a slight twist. They don't tolerate major root disturbance readily so the way forward is to re-pot at long intervals of at least three years. This is possible because their root systems do not extend as quickly as some species. I hope that this helps a bit. |

| I believe it is a cryptomeria. I have seen them called japanese cedar quite often. There is an entry in the A to Z section if you have access. If not then keep it outside and avoid damp foliage as it will rot rather quickly. |

Marriage advice is not something I need to be giving, but I'm getting pretty good at what NOT to do with a bonsai! |

Howdy Dude ... I'm new too !
I bought a seedling once labeled "Japanese Cedar" its actually a Cryptomeria japonica ... also known as a Temple Cedar. This probably isn't the place to state how much i HATE the use of "common" names ... so i wont.
Congrats on the marriage too dude ... had a few of them too !
