Here's the Juniper and Yew. http://www.lgtilley.freeserve.co.uk/juniper.htm People here kindly advised me in the spring about the initial cuts. Pics at the top show them in spring, one at the bottom as they are now.

So what should I do next?

The trees seem to have a natural columnar growing habit. It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to change that. I would let the tree "tell you" how it wants to look and grow and then act accordingly. They can't be repotted at this time of the year, but they can be pruned.
