Hiya guys... Im Darren from the UK, Just two weeks ago I got myself a cute Bonsai so now i`m here to find out how to take care of my small little tree Smile.

My first problem is... I`m not sure which type of bonsai it is... I "think" it is an elm but not too sure...May I take a picture and show you guys please? All I knew was for £15 pounds it was worth buying (I had no idea how cheap they were now a days).

Well I will leave it at that for nowIts great to be able to talk with people who share my same interest. Take care for now.

Darren.

By all means show a pic. If you are not a subscriber you will have to post a link to the pic. Only subscribers can post pics directly. Membership is a great bargain and highly recommended.

Greetings Darren. I'm just up the A61 from you. If you have an Elm of some sort, be advised that it should remain outside at all times. We'll make sure when we see a photograph. Can't the supplier give you an identification? We're waiting to help.

Yep, it looks like Ulmus parvifolia. Get it outside and if those rocks are glued in place, get them off to facilitate good watering practice.
The soil should be maintained in just moist condition at all times and when it has settled to its new location, say after 4 to 6 weeks, start to feed with a half strength balanced fertilizer at two week intervals.
Some people have kept these inside but only if optimum growing conditions such as light and humidity are provided. They are never as robust and often perish inside. I'm just over the border in Sheffield.

Hiya there Stymie... Thanks for telling me what it is (Does help to know what it is doesn`t it? Razz) Awww so i should place it out side to make sure it grows OK? That`s a shame but ill follow what you tell me... I guess i will just have to get a in door bonsai,Does this site state what in door bonsai`s there are please? Yes the rocks were glued so i broke them off the pot (Took my time) "Get them off" do you mean just make sure they aren't glued or to remove them altogether?

Yes the info on the tree told me to keep the soil moist... So say it`s a bad rainy day ... does that mean i should just keep it in doors for the day?

I learn the other day not to use too much water because when i did the next day six of the leave changed colour to yellow (Which means too much water?)

Oh i got food for it at the moment... After I've done this reply ill find out what it is (It`s imported from japan)

Well if the optimum conditions suit my bedroom i may still keep it in doors (I'm in a small room which has a fan blowing all the time)

Oh i used to have a friend from Huddersfield (Spelt right? *rubs head*..lol) Please excuse my spellings.. I don't mean to misspell it`s just I'm not very good at it Smile.

Any how thank you again Stymie Smile

I got mine for £2.75... It`s solid food which you water over so it slowly feeds it each time...

Is this good or
