OK I know this is a big ask but are any of the experienced Bonsai artists on here who are willing to make any video tutorials of the Bonsai basics?

The guys over at bonsaitalk (http://www.bonsaicam.com/) have run a couple of webcam tutorials but I've never been around to catch them. I was hoping that someone here might want to do something similar for all us newbies? Hopefully the short video's could be saved and then the paid-up member of bonsai help could view them whenever they wanted not just at the time of filming.

I know its a huge ask, but thought I would throw it into the pot Smile

Not a bad idea But it would depend on those with the equipment and the forums ability to host it.

Excellent idea. No problems with our ability to host / stream it.

Our problems are, who's going to make them and what format we should offer them in so everyone can see them?

Thanks great news Smile

<geek talk>

I've done a 'little' testing with using an MMS (Multimedia Streaming) server which is included in Windows 2003 server. It fantastic really, and allows 'on the fly' conversion to Windows Media Video (WMV) which can be played on all Windows based PC's (and I think MAC's and Linux with the codecs).

The great thing about it is that it can adjust the compression of the video to suit the persons Internet connection, so if you are on a Dial-up then it reduces the quality so that is can be streamed without stopping.

Just need someone kind enough and skilled enough to record a few video's for us... Dick Wink

Hmmmm... I'm sure we could stream them this way but I don't know how to. The box also is LINUX based so we'd have to take a look at what other packages are available.

Probably the best way to get it up and running for the time being is to set up an FTP server where you can download them.

Anyone got a video camera? I' aint!

You thrifty articles should get out and buy some commercial videos. They're absolutely topping because they have proper lighting, voice over narration and good experienced production. We couldn't do all that. If I got someone to sit in at a demonstration with a camera it would seem tatty in comparison.

I take your point Stymie but these could be more specific to answer questions that would never be covered in commercial video.

It would just be another way of the community helping out each other. I'm sure that they would be very popular and people would really appreciate the more experience members helping out the newbies. It wouldn't cost anybody anything, just some time Smile

Any you'd recommend in particular to we "thrifty articles" who might only wish to invest in the most topping of the absolutely topping?

I've found the current list of videos offered by Bonsai Europe to be excellent. They are available in five languages and feature Black Pine, Ezo Spruce, White Pine and Azalea. Email: info@bonsaieurope.com
Kevin Willson's videos are worth watching time after time. The lists are fairly big, also anything produced by Paul Goff can be relied on to be instructive.
