The bottle will add drops if you hold it steady, The higher concentration will not do any harm, neither will it have a better effect. Just add more water to the mixture to make it go further. Laughing

Mark - I bought a little dropping bottle from my local chemist - 90p - which I keep my Superthrive in, and it can be delivered drop by drop using the rubber bulb pipette in the bottle. Simple. Go to your chemist tomorrow and purchase one for yourself. Superthrive delivery problem solved. Cool SJ.

Mark, this is copied from an old post of mine where I measured the drops in 1 ml for a person here.

Quote:
A 4 oz. bottle lasts a very long time. I think that I will be able to use an entire bottle this year, but previous years, I have never used a bottle in one growing season. I only use it full strength 1/4 teaspoon after transplants and then every couple of weeks. All other times I just put a few drops in a gallon. A teaspoon is 1.25mL, and 1mL is about 20 drops. I use a 1mL dropper. I find that it is much easier and much more exact. Be hard to get 5 drops in a gallon any other way.

Mark,

Most pharmacies carry droppers for baby medicines. You can easily get one there.

my girlfriend is a conservator and used to work for Manchester museum, she has all sorts of weird and wonderful tools to do her work with, and she has some of those small plastic measuring syringes, like you used to get in school science lessons, and i use one of those to measure things like supperthrive with. but i don't know how easy it would be to find where to buy those from.

Chemical supply sellers would carry them. Also school or education suppliers do as well. And I should think that household stores would too.

You can get a syringe from the chemist (pharmacist) just as easily as you can get a dropper bottle. And very cheap - just pennies. I think they may be a bit more reluctant to sell needles...

Syringes, with needles are great for watering air-layers. Almost nothing better, especially if you can get a big syringe with a small gage needle. The big flavor injector marinade syringes that they sell would be great if the needle was smaller. You could water one large layer or several small one's with 50cc of water. Around here the only syringes they sell in pharmacies are diabetic syringes, and they are small (.5 and 1ml I think) but the needles are tiny. I have a friend that's mom is an insulin dependant diabetic and she gives me a new syringe whenever I need one. If I lose mine or break the needle. Just remember that if you do use a syringe to water an air-layer and the needle breaks off inside the layer make sure you mark it to remember otherwise you can get stuck.

SJ just might be an insulin dependant diabetic too.

No, I hadn't thought of insulin dependent diabetes when I made my feeble needle joke. Or watering air layers. Embarassed SJ.

The best for water air payers is the needle that come with the kit use to refill printer cartrdges with new ink. It's a thicker needle that allows more through it than does an insulin syringe.

I'm surprised, I thought every bottle of superthrive came with a dropper as a bottle cap. Here all the stores that sell superthrive bottles come with droppers. Why you guys don't receive the same type of bottle is beyond me.

Mine was one of those that Tom sent over to our supplier (Barwick Bonsai) so it is a yankee one and has no dropper.
