Hi All
I have a Loropetalum and the leaves keep turning brown Withering and falling off the tree I feed with a Ericaciouse feed and water with rain water from a butt The tree is about 10yrs old and been in my posesion about 3yrs with no problems now the occasional leaves are stuck together the tree is outdoors in a semi shaded position but gets the morning sun

| When was the last time it was repotted? it sounds as if there mat be some crowding of the roots. |

Hi Dick
Many thanks for the reply this tree was re potted at the beginning of March this year it gets lovely red leaves and flower buds then the next day wen i look half the leaf is brown the stalk end half of The leaf takes longer to Brown off

| It may be of interest to know that they grow best in acidic medium and prefer dappled shade position. |

| Another reason to give it shade after repotting especially is that the pot heats up in exposure to any sumlight at all, even morning sun and may cause the roots to cook in the pot which then cannot supply enough moisture to the foliage. |

Does this mean you have an insect problem?
Some insects cobble leaves together and live inside on a diet of sap.
It might be worth spraying the tree with soapy water, which will do no harm and may do a lot of good. |
