Shito bonsai

Hi everyone.

I have found a small conifer seedling - probably a Hinoki Cypress, actually. Its a little bit over an inch tall, but looks quite like a tree at the moment anyway!

I want to make a Shito bonsai out of it. Is is possible to continue to grow it in a tiny pot for all its life and keep it trimmed to its current height, rather than plant it in the ground and let it grow for a bit?

That is possible but you must be aware that such a small quantity of planting medium will dry out in summer in a very short time. Watering 3 or 4 times a day is quite on the cards. The alternative might be to bury the tiny pot in moist material when you are not available to water it.
Growing to a slightly larger size in a larger pot would be less trouble and much more likely to survive but I sympathise with your ambition and wish you luck if you have the dedication.
