My sympathy Kaone.
Ficus species (figs) would do well in a west facing window, particularly if there is humidity. F. retusa or F. microcarpa would be good subjects to try. I'll try to source some in Berks. otherwise we might have to try mail order. BRB. =Don.
http://www.dai-ichibonsai.com/ have a Berkshire store and are a quality source but M and S or B and Q stores have usually got some modest specimens if you are not going for top quality. |

Hi Kaone
I work in Didcot just down the road. The best places for cheap figs are B&Q or Homebase.
My local Focus (Reading) has a buy 2 get one free on little boxed bonsai price at 3.99 I think. They have carmonas elms but not sure about the figs.
If you wish to visit a genuine bonsai place then dai-ichi at hilliers garden center at hermitage is excellent but they only do outdoor trees.
The wyevale next to the a34 near rutherford lab also stock bonsai as do most wyevale garden centers. they have a fairly mixed selection depending on when you go.
Something that is easy to grow (in our house anyway) is a calamondin we have one in a small pot that could easily be done as a bonsai. It is fruiting like crazy at present. Leaves are a bit big but it is good practice material |
