In lieu of having a tree stole last week my darling fiance surprised me today with a new tree. It is a Chinese Juniper.

I'm thinking about an Informal upright. What do you think? I also apologize for my terrible grammar above.

It could be developed in several different ways. You might like to post some other shots, e.g. back and sides, for the guys and dolls on here to make suggestions.

Wiring that back branch up has made the back flat and I feel that it should have been much nearer to the horizontal plane. It would be good for the tree to place it with the back towards the sun to encourage growth in that direction.
People will know that I am not a fan of slingshot branching but in this case I am convinced that they should be kept as they are and developed. A little pinching out of shoot ends will be all that is necessary this year.

Stymie - I am also not a fan of how the wiring was done, but it was a gift and I will just have to work with what I have on this one. Hopefully in the future it will work itself out to gain the look of a more natural branch or, with the proper advice Wink , I could get some help doing so. But that would be a while off.

Nige, that was my diagnosis as well. Just starting to develop some scale foliage.

Thank you two. Looking at those characteristics I do believe that your diagnosis is correct. My fiance is a stickler for detail so that is one i though she would not go wrong with. Ha we're all vulnerable to mistakes.

Again thank you.
