can anyone tell me if there is a alternative i can use instead of superthrive that i can get from a garden center or D.I.Y store.
I repotted my serrisa and she is showing signs of decline, i.e leaves turning yellow and shriveling up, she looks very unhappy |

Is HB- 101 a tonic or fertilizer, never heard of it.

well since i last posted on this subject my Serrisa is looking very frail.
Compared to the pictures at the bottom in the styling page.
She is still alive after 2months or so of decline but it is not looking good since the re-pot. I haven't changed its position and still water when needed and mist twice daily. I just cant seem to pull it round.
i know Serrisas a very fickle and am putting it's bad health down to the re-potting, but could there be any other factors? I was also thinking that maybe it's 2 close to the window at around 1meter away now that the sun is stronger than a couple of months ago. And if this is the case then i am worried about moving it as i know they don't like change, and in such a bad way that would surely finish her off.....................

Your's still looks better than one that I am trying to revive for a friend Lee. I don't think that a metre away from a window is too near. On the contrary. I would have thought it was too far away. Why am I saying anything though, it's just the nature of the beast to be awkward Keep trying buddy. |

I got chatting to the fella at Bodiam Bonsai and told him the trouble im having with my serrisa. He suggested that i should defoliate it( so as it did not get sun burnt) and put it outside as the sun was a natural antiseptic for it.
Is this sound advice in your opinion? |

| Any kind of change or stress makes them sulk as we all know. What do you think? |

I know what you are saying Don and i suppose to a degree i agree that they don't like change. Not that i have made any changes to mine other than re-potting it and putting under an icu , Having been looking around on the net i have found some good + and not so good advice. One piece of advice that i have tried is an icu ( intensive care unit) for my tree. http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg218/leejrphotos/DSC00045.jpg?t=12 12947717.... The only problem i seem to be having with this is mold. I remove the icu daily so as to allow new air in. Other than raising the icu up of its surface to leave a gap ( which kind of defeats the reason for the icu) so air can circulate all day. i suppose i just don't want to sit back and watch my tree shrivel up and die with out trying my best to help it.

| While defoliation would definiately stop it from dropping leaves during a move, it is an evergreen and I don't know how well it would take being naked. |
