I've mentioned it before but some new people will be interested to know that 'bonsai' without any alteration to the spelling can be a singular noun, a collective noun, an adjective or a verb.
e.g. A bonsai, a group of bonsai, a bonsai tool/bonsai pot or to bonsai a tree. |

It is true what is he is saying though. We get a lot of "banzai", "bonsais" and such. We don't want to be snobs about his but we do have thousands of years of this to impart. |

I believe the right way to pronounce is "bon-sigh"
this is more correct - and is more commonly used here in the UK
it tends to be pronounced more "bone-sigh" in the US
as long as its not banzai, bonsia, bosnia, bonsais, bansi, banzis - ive encountered all these and more besides |

A personal question Corin. Was the Satsuki named after you or are you named after the Satsuki? |

Im afraid not the "Korin" satsuki was named after a Japanese Calligrapher / Artist i believe
Although both myself and the Satsuki have compact growth habit |

it is strange
Satsuki is also pronouced different ways
I say "sat-ski"
some still say "sat-su-ki"
and Ive had people tell me that they have a Suzuki Azalea - and one chap said he had a Satsuma Azalea - maybe it has orange colour flowers |
