Hey buddies,

Been a while since I've been on line. Just thought I'd drop in and show you my Yaupon holly. This started out as any Yaupon would, as a small messy bush. It was onsale becouse the yaupon was tipped over and full of brown leaves. I liked the style it would have just as it is so I paid a whole dollar for it. I pruned some roots on the right side of the Yaupon and leaned it over some more exposing more of the roots on the left side. I didn't know what I was going to do with the right side. I had to leave it open for a little while becouse I used a sealer paint and need it to dry so I used the rock and some spagnum moss to cover it and it turns out I liked the look so I left it as is. It kind of looks like a cave. Maybe I will use that as a theme when I place it in a bonsai pot next spring.
Well, good to be on line again. Thanks for listening. Heres some pictures.

Welcome back, stranger. It's good to hear from you again.

Yaupons are great for bonsai. They are actually a shrub, but they grow vigorously and quickly and can be easily styles and restyled if need be. Plus they are tough little buggers. I have three that I;ve had for a few years and this year, one of them, because of some benign neglect, lost all of its leaves twice and still had a second regrowth of leaves and has filled out once again. They don;t like to get dry feet and nned some moisture at the roots at all times and they can withstand full sunlight if necessary especially if they do have the right amount of moisture at the roots.
