There I was sitting talking to my trees this evening and noticing how pretty the flowers on my Fukien Tea looked, when along came a small striped insect and started to feed of off the flowers. It went from one flower to the next, then got confused and started looking for flowers on my Sagertti (It has none) Laughing

I am wondering if this time I will get berries on my FT? Laughing I have yet to see them on this species of tree in real life, although I have seen pictures of them and heard anecdotal stories from others who also have had berries and subsequently small FT's.
I say anecdotal, because up to now I am not sure if I am having my leg pulled when I am told these stories Laughing

In the last year and a half since I have had my two Carmonas, I only saw berries once, and only two at that. They start out green then turn red. Once they turn red, they get soft and fall off rather easily.

I too didn't think it was true, especially since mine stay indoors all year round.

My Fukien Tea did produce berries for a short while. Unfortunately it was my first bonsai tree I kept, so I didn't manage to keep it alive for that long - I've spoke to others who say that this tree is notoriously difficult to keep.

I think you need sub-tropical conditions. i went to Florida and there were literally hundreds in Disney World that were used as hedging material!! i think hot Hot & Humid must be the trick!!

From your desciption, it's hard to identify the culprit. However, if it is devouring the flowers, it's probably safe to assume that it's not beneficial to the tree per se.

Hi Dick
It was a small Bee like thing doing what it should. It was one of those moments that you really need a camera with a close up lens to hand, but that never happens does it? Laughing
