hi there can i just ask how you did your cutting as they are very hard. how and what you put it in to root etc...

I took a semi ripe cutting from a short 2" spur (old flowering stem).

It was then placed in a mist propagator at work with undersoil heating and left to it. It went into a sandy propagating compost.

I took around 6 cuttings and 3 rooted, albeit very slowly.

Only did it for a bit of fun really.

I've also taken cuttings from japanese maples in the same way but with softwood cuttings around now. Got 50% strike rate again.

so i should take the cuttings where the new growth meets the old growth and put into a well drained compost.. and the same for the maples....
