I don't know what species you have but if the leaves are broad and the yellowing is mostly along the middle line, I will guess that there is a mineral deficiency. Try a teaspoon of epsom salts in a pint of your rain water and use that at watering time. Something like three times during the season is sufficient. Another thought is that you seem to be allowing it to dry out between watering. This is not good for it and the compost should be kept moist at all times. If the discolouring is along the leaf edges, shortage of water could be the problem. Nice to hear from you again - don't be a stranger.

What sort of tree is it? How many times per week do you water? Do you mist the only? Are you misting daily and forgetting to water? When you water, is the soil totally saturated? Perhaps that could account for the problems. A good watering regimen is absolutely essential for a healthy tree. Also, does the water flow right through the soil and pot quickly after watering?

For now, stop fertilizing completely until the tree is back to good health. Also, check for any possible insects on the leave, front or back side. Put the tree outdoor in a mostly shady location until it can revive. If you can, water the tree once by submerging the entire pot and soil in lukewarm water with only one or two drops of soap and leave it there until there are no more bubbles coming from the soil. (The warm water and soap permit the water to get into all of the open spaces of the soil.)

Then come back with your answer?
