What is the best way to go about getting a Fukien Tea seed to germinate? I have a tree that has produced lots of seeds this summer and I have saved several of them. After they dry out should I follow the normal routine of refrigerating them for a couple months and then planting them as with other seeds?

The fukien's seeds do not need to be refrigerated. However, they have a very hard seed coating that needs to be softened or cracked in order for the seed to germinate. Usually soaking them in warm water for a significant amount of time will help soften them enough for the seed to sprout. Sometimes it may also be necessary to nick the coating with a knife in order for the seed to have a chance at sprouting.
