If it is just on the edge of the leaves I would keep it out of afternoon direct sun and things should be ok. If your leaves are totally scorched we will let somebody with more Maple experience help you. Good Luck.

Hopefully, not all the leaves are affected. The brown ones can be snipped away leaving the petiole (leaf stem) in place. This ensures that the latent buds at the base of the stem are undamaged. The stems will drop off naturally after three weeks and new, smaller leaves will appear to replace the old ones. We do this with healthy trees for the purpose of reducing leaf size but its usually about six weeks earlier than this. Less water will be needed to keep the planting medium moist until the new leaves are established. Acers always have this problem if they are kept in full sun. The best place for them is dappled shade and always out of midday sun. They seem to do well on the West side of a building where they only get evening sunshine. In the meantime don't feed your tree until the new leaves are half grown then resume at two week intervals with a half strength balanced feed until the end of September.

Thanks Stymie. I didn't want to give that advice thinking it was too late in the season.
