i planted some apple seeds from a mix of apples out of the fruit bowl and they've started growing which im really excited about actually. i have two nice sized seedlings about two or three inches high. i've also planted some pear seeds too and im still waiting for them to start poking out of the pot. i just need some good advice really on when to prune them and all that jazz. do they need to be treated differently to non fruiting trees?

When they get to the height that you want them to finish at, cut them back by a third. This will be quite a while yet. Meanwhile, don't coddle them. They are temperate zone trees.
