Hello. I' m new to this forum and to keeping Bonsai Trees. I bought a lovely little Pepper Tree just under two weeks ago and it was doing fine until today. I have it on my sunniest window-ledge and it seemed to be quite happy there, sprouting new shoots. Unfortunately, I think I've inadvertently done it a lot of damage maybe even killed it Sad

It was very cold in our house yesterday with the bad weather, so I put on our central heating, completely forgetting about the poor tree. I came home from work this afternoon and it was looking very sorry for itself. The leaves and many of the new shoots have dried up.

I stood it in water up to its trunk (as per the instructions) and let it have a good soak for about 30 minutes. What else can I do to help it recover?

I feel really awful about forgetting about it Crying or Very sad

Water it from above from now on but only when needed to stop it drying out. Just moist is the target because roots need air as well.
Don't attempt to feed it because the roots which have been dry will not be able to cope with that. Don't locate it near to a heat source or draughts-. A background termperature in double figures is adequate. I can't help much more at the moment, time will tell if the tree is still alive. The only thing which could be administered is an extremely dilute tonic like 'Superthrive' which is not a fertilizer.
Good luck, I'm sorry that this unfortunately had to be your first contact with us. Here's to a happier future.

Thank you. The tree has had some time to absorb the moisture and it doesn't seem to be quite so dry now. I hope it survives because it is a really pretty tree - my first of many I hope. I'll need to trim the dead bits off but hopefully I caught it in time and it will recover.

I'll know not to do that again!
