Hi earlier this spring i rescued a Hawthorne which was dried out and almost dead from a garden centre. A couple of months later and it flowered. Unfortunately now the flowers have fallen and the Haws have also. I was looking forward to a nice show of berries . i'm just wondering why the Haws have fallen aswell any thoughts?

If you are sure that it wasn't the birds that snacked off the berries, it could be that the tree feels that it has to conserve it's energy in case of another drying out.
I must admit to hardly ever having fruit on mine. I probably prune directly after flowering has ceased. At least that's my excuse. |

Thanks Don never thought of that. I'm hoping that it will flower again next year when it isn't stressed. At a guess i would say that it is no more than 8yrs old, i know they don't usually flower until they are much older.
