Welcome to the forum KK
It means ignore this and water from the top
Shop bought maybe supermarket etc?
trees prefer watering from the top rather than being soaked from bottom up.
something to do with oxygen being drawn through rather than pushed out so i hear |

The only time you want to immerse your pot in water is if the soil is extremely dry. By immersing it in water you ensure that the whole root ball will be soaked. The only other reason to water with that method is if you have a Mame (i.e. real small, think thimble or only slightly larger) bonsai.
The preferred method is to water from top as someone previously mentioned. It is a good practice to water from top until water starts coming out of the drain holes then repeat watering again 10 to 15 minutes later. This way more oxygen is pulled through the soil. The faster draining the potting medium you have, the more oxygen will be pulled through with the water. |

| Watering should be done on a "as needed" basis, not a schedule. when the top of the soil begins to appear dry it's time to water |
